01 — THE PROBLEM

Fashion fairs are expensive, and clients aren’t always in town.

Designers rely on showrooms and fashion fairs to present collections, which is costly, wasteful and out of reach for clients outside the capital. Lookroom set out to bring the showroom into VR: a virtual fashion show you can attend without leaving home, and eventually a place to shop.

02 — THE BUILD

Three decisions that made it work for designers.

  1. Model in a studio being captured with a camera rig and smartphone app

Capture with a camera and a phone

Collections are captured with dedicated cameras and a smartphone app. It’s simple enough for designers to do themselves, or the team can run the shoot in their atelier.

  2. A catalogue each brand controls

Each brand’s collection appears as a virtual catalogue in the app, and designers can personalise it and keep adding products.

  3. Launched with three designer brands

The first VR sessions were shot with Maciej Zień, Łukasz Jemioł and Jacob Birge, who can now show a full collection to a client using just the app.
